What strategies will you use to foster positive relationships between the school board, teachers, parents, and community members?
One of my strengths is that I genuinely enjoy hearing what other people think and feel. People want to be heard. We must acknowledge differing opinions, ideas, and points of view. When people take the time to share their thoughts and concerns, we must honor the effort it took to reach out and empower them to speak their minds.
I recognize that each community in our district—Liberty Hills, Traverse Mountain, Belmont, and Viewpoint—has its own unique observations and concerns. As your school board member, I plan to visit each of these four schools regularly, not just for PTA and School Community Council meetings, but to be present and accessible to teachers, staff, and families.
Being in schools allows me to know what is happening in the classroom firsthand and to identify and address needs early. I want our educators and staff to feel supported, respected, and heard. We can only solve problems once they are identified—and that requires a location for open, honest communication.
Over the course of my career, I’ve partnered with thousands of parents. I’ve done that by actively seeking their input, listening to their ideas, and clearly communicating how they can help. As a school board member, I will continue this work by being available, prompt in responses, and respectful in every interaction.
By empowering our teachers, supporting our parents, and listening to our community, we can build a district where everyone feels seen, heard, and respected.
