How do you plan to improve student achievement for all students, including those with special needs, English language learners, and those experiencing learning loss?

Segregating those with special needs, or those learning the language, or those struggling with the curriculum is harmful and not effective. But we can’t expect one teacher with way too many students to address all these needs alone.
Let’s truly put the classroom first. This means that we need to provide the supports necessary for ALL learners to succeed. This includes trained aides or paraprofessionals where they are needed, especially to support meaningful inclusion (click to download pdf presentation).

Yes, trained aides or paraprofessionals cost money, but so does ignoring needs and then having to address them down the line. Let’s make the classroom our budget priority.

Focusing on the classroom is the answer to most of our problems.
