Listening Builds Stronger Communities

One of my strengths is that I genuinely enjoy hearing what other people think and feel. People want to be heard. We must acknowledge differing opinions, ideas, and points of view.

As I have attended PTA and School Community Council meetings, it has been exciting to watch the exchange of ideas. I truly believe that if we seek out input and listen, we can tackle any issues that are before us.

Representing All Four Schools in Seat 1

The four schools in Seat 1—Liberty Hills, Traverse Mountain, Belmont, and Viewpoint—will all have differing concerns. I plan, as a board member, to be in each school on a regular basis, attending PTA and School Community Council meetings, and being available to chat.

This will allow me to:

  • Understand what is happening in classrooms firsthand.

  • Address needs and concerns collaboratively.

  • Build meaningful relationships with students, teachers, and parents.

Empowering Teachers and Staff

I want teachers and staff to know that they have a forum and feel empowered to be open and honest about what they see. In order to find solutions, we must first identify the problem.

By providing a safe and respectful space for input, I will encourage staff to share their perspectives so that challenges can be addressed directly and effectively.

Partnering with Parents and the Community

Throughout my career, I have partnered with thousands of parents by:

  • Actively seeking opinions and ideas.

  • Sharing ways they can contribute.

  • Encouraging open and respectful dialogue.

As a board member, I will continue to encourage communication between parents and community members by being:

  • Available and approachable.

  • Prompt in my responses.

  • Respectful in every interaction.

Conclusion

Fostering positive relationships requires listening, openness, and consistent engagement. By working with parents, teachers, and staff, we can create solutions that strengthen our schools and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive.
